Childcare Coordinator
The First Parish in Portland Unitarian Universalist, a dynamic and growing liberal congregation in the heart of Portland, is seeking a Childcare Coordinator to create a joyous, playful space for children 5 and under on Sunday mornings.
Working with the Director of Religious Exploration, adult volunteers, and teen helpers, the Childcare Coordinator will work two hours on Sunday mornings to set up the nursery, provide childcare during all or part of the worship service (10-11am), then clean up the space. The total shift is from 9:30-11:30am. Additional hours may be available during special post-service events.
The nursery is a place where our youngest members can sing songs, explore books, do crafts, play, and make friends–under the guidance and supervision of our wonderful Childcare Coordinator! Our Religious Exploration Program is evolving and expanding and offers opportunity for creativity and fun as part of a team of staff and volunteers.
An ideal candidate will have:
- Prior experience working with children–children under 5 years old is a plus
- A passion for music, art, stories, and/or play
- An eagerness to collaborate, learn, and ask questions
- A can-do, problem-solving attitude
- A track record of reliability
Details for this position are:
- September to June (44 weeks), 2 hours per week on Sundays 9:30-11:30 am
- Occasional extra hours throughout the year, coordinated ahead of time
- Compensation is $20/hour
